TỪ ĐƯỜNG PHỐ ĐẾN PHÒNG TRƯNG BÀY

FROM STREET TO GALLERY

“Art is life, life is art.” - Keith Haring

To Haring, art was never a luxury reserved for museums or galleries built for the elite. It could appear anywhere in everyday life: on the walls of New York subway stations, on the streets, even on T-shirts and toys.

Street culture is the clearest proof of this. Everything starts with a yard to practice in, an empty wall, a neighborhood party. Practiced long enough and with enough heart, it slowly grows its own language and style. At that point, this culture is no longer an ordinary pastime. It has become art.

And because it comes from life, this kind of art reaches each of us in a very personal way. You don’t need to understand everything or know anything beforehand. Just look, listen, feel a rhythm or a line, and sense something quietly stirring inside you. Each person brings their own experience to it, so that art becomes something we experience and live alongside, not just something we stand and watch.

“Art is life, life is art.” - Keith Haring

From a block party in the Bronx in 1973 to the first headspins at Nhà Tròn and the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace in 1990s Hanoi, Hip Hop has never been just a passing hobby.

It is a culture born on the streets, raised within a community, and fed by the energy of young people who were free, fearless, and all in.

From Breaking, Rap, and DJing to Graffiti, from self-started underground crews to international stages, Hip Hop has made its way into contemporary art, fashion, design, and spaces once thought to be beyond its borders.

“The street did not have to become more refined. Fine Art had to become more open.”

More than three decades of Hip Hop in Hanoi is more than three decades of chasing a passion and creating freely, relentlessly.

And when we turn our heads to look back, we see that Hip Hop is Art. Pursuing Hip Hop is practicing art. From the streets to creative spaces, from body movement to personal statements, from a small community to a culture that keeps expanding.

Spin into Art  is not just an event or a block party. It is a living museum of hiphop x fine art.

LỜI TỰA | TREO TRĂNG

(This showcase belongs to Chapter I: The Seed - The Genesis)

In the eighth lunar month, as the harvest draws to a close and the fields rest, people of old hold festivals to give thanks to Heaven, Earth, and ancestors, celebrating a bountiful crop and wishing for blessings ahead. On the night of the mid-autumn full moon, beneath clear skies and cool breezes, families gathered under the eaves to admire the moon, process with lanterns, and send forth wishes for a peaceful, fulfilling life.

In Eastern thought, the moon is far more than a natural phenomenon; it embodies cool Yin energy, intuition, wholeness, and the rhythmic cycle of time.

Continuing the flow of Chapter I: "The Seed - The Genesis" if the "Sàng Sảy | Sifting & Winnowing” journey reminded us of the arduous toil under sun and dew, where grains of rice undergo shelling, pounding, winnowing, and sifting to shed the chaff and reveal their pure essence, then "Treo Trăng" arrives as the joy of reaping and the celebration of an abundant harvest.

"Treo" (Hanging) is a deeply folk-rooted act, much like the traditional practice of hanging a lantern under the eaves as Mid-Autumn returns. This custom of hanging lanterns is not merely decorative; it is a ritual of kindling hope: hanging light to dispel darkness, and elevating faith in peace, prosperity, and good fortune for the entire family.

Featuring multi-material works by artists Lê Thiết Cương, Nguyễn Quốc Thắng, Bình Nhi, Dím (Nguyễn Quốc Hùng), alongside creative designs by the 39 Concept team.

We warmly invite you to visit the "Treo Trăng | Hanging The Moon” space, join 39 Concept in the Mid-Autumn feast, and welcome a brand-new "season of the moon."
